Interbio Workshop
'Two-faces of Science Communication'
The international Interbio workshop 'Two faces of Science Communication' will take place at the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica (ITQB) from 19-23 March 2012. In the unique setting of the town of Oeiras, located at the Tagus river mouth and the Estoril beach coast, just outside Lisbon, this workshop covers the practical aspects of science communication and includes presentation of successful outreach examples within the Interbio region. Communication is at the centre of all human activities and research is no exception. In fact, many difficulties felt by researchers in their work result from problems in communication: both in communicating to their peers and when communicating with the outside world. Researchers are thus increasingly aware of the need to have specific training for writing research articles, proposing research projects, seeking funding, making presentations, talking to the media, or interacting with the public. This 5- days workshop proposes to address both faces of scientific communication, to peers and to lay audiences, focusing on the role of researchers in the process. Remember that the success of Interbio is in your hands, so please bring this event to the attention of researchers within your node.
