Our Projects

 

ITQB NOVA Science Communication Office has been involved as coordinator or participant in the following projects, that have received competitive funding:

 

  • European Researchers Night/Noite dos investigadores 2016/2017 - "Foresight - science in 2030", coordination Pavilhão do Conhecimento, Ciência Viva. Coordinator of the Work Package "Impact Assessment"
  • "Resistance; when bacteria resist antibiotics/Resistir: quando as bactérias resistem a antibióticos" (participant), partnership with Centro Ciência Viva de Sintra (CCVSintra) to produce an exhibition on bacteria antibiotic resistance. Financed by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Concurso Literacia em Saúde. The exhibition will be shown in CCVSintra for 18 months and then it will be itinerant in schools. 2015-2017 Budget: 20.000€
  • "Moving/Em movimento" (participant), partnership with Centro Ciência Viva de Sintra, Centro Ciência Viva de Aveiro, Centro Ciência Viva de Constância, Centro Ciência Viva de Lagos, Centro Ciência Viva de Vila do Conde and Rómulo - Centro Ciência Viva de Coimbra to produce an exhibition that will rotate between 5 Science Centers. Financed by Agência Nacional para a Cultura Científica. 2015-2017. Budget: 200.000€
  • “Knowledge creation, knoledge sharing/Criação de conhecimento, Partilha de conhecimento”(coordinator), to collect all the data, experiments and activities developed throughout ITQB NOVA open days and make it available online.Financed by Agência Nacional para a Cultura Científica Ciência Viva, concurso "escolher ciência". 2012-2014. Budget: 5.000€. Results presented at SciCom PT 2014, 2nd Portuguese Congress in Science Communication
  • "A scientist goes to school/Um cientista vem à nossa escola"(coordinator), collaboration with Escola Secundária Quinta do Marquês Financed by Agência Nacional para a Cultura Científica. 2012-2014. Budget: 5.000€
  • European Researchers Night/Noite dos investigadores 2013 - "Future 2020" (participant, coordinator of Work Package 3 - Evaluation), coordination Pavilhão do Conhecimento. ITQB NOVA was responsible for Impact assessment Work Package.Bringing scientists and citizens together through thinking about the future. Financed by European Union. Results presented at SciCom PT 2014, 2nd Portuguese Congress in Science Communication
  • European Researchers Night/Noite dos Investigadores 2009 - "Scientists on stage" (participant, coordinator of Work Package 2 - Hands-on activities in Lisbon and 4 - Evaluation), coordination Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência. Bringing scientists and citizens together through theatre. Financed by FP7 European Union.

 

ITQB NOVA Science Communication Office has been involved as coordinator in the following projects:

 

  • Fascination of Plants Day in Portugal 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2017 - The goal of this activity is to get as many people as possible around the world fascinated by plants and enthused about the importance of plant sciences. We coordinated national activities, involving dozens of institutes in all country. Results of 2012 and 2013 were presented at SciCom PT 2013, 1st Portuguese Congress in Science Communication .

  • The fly room hands-on experiments, with the screening of the movie "The Fly Room" at Pavilhão do Conhecimento, coordination ITQB NOVA, with CEDOC, June 2016

  • Gut Thinking – How your Microbes Influence your Life, coordination Champalimaud Research, April 2016.

  • European Researchers Night/Noite dos investigadores 2012 - "Science, body and sports", coordination Pavilhão do Conhecimento, Ciência Viva.

  • European Researchers Night/Noite dos investigadores 2011, coordination Pavilhão do Conhecimento, Ciência Viva

  • European Researchers Night/Noite dos Investigadores 2010 - "Scientists on stage 2", coordination Reitoria da Universidade do Porto.
