Claudina Rodrigues-Pousada elected AAAS Fellow

American Academy for the Advancement of Science announces 2011 Fellows

Claudina Rodrigues-Pousada, invited professor at ITQB and head of the Laboratory of Genomics and Stress, has been elected as Fellow of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The list of the new Fellows of AAAS was announced last week in the society’s scientific journal,Science.

In November 2011, the AAAS Council elected 539 members as Fellows of AAAS. These individuals will be recognized for their contributions to science and technology at the Fellows Forum to be held on 18 February 2012 during the AAAS Annual Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia. The new Fellows will receive a certificate and a blue and gold rosette as a symbol of their distinguished accomplishments.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science, "Triple A-S" (AAAS), is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science around the world by serving as an educator, leader, spokesperson and professional association. In addition to organizing membership activities, AAAS publishes the journal Science, as well as many scientific newsletters, books and reports, and spearheads programs that raise the bar of understanding for science worldwide.

Election as a Fellow of AAAS is an honor bestowed upon members by their peers. Fellows are recognized for meritorious efforts to advance science or its applications. Claudina Rodrigues Pousada was elected in the section on Biological Sciences.
