Invited Speakers
Patricia Rosado Pinto is Head of the Medical Education Department at Faculdade de Ciências Médicas of NOVA University and Vice Director of NOVA Doctoral School. She is an invited Professor and she teaches academic skills. After her Master in Education from the University of Caen, France, she received her PhD in Education (Teachers’ Training) from Instituto de Educação of Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal. She has been involved in several national and international Continuing Medical Education programmes and in educational consultancy activities (both in Europe and in Portuguese Speaking Countries – Brasil, Angola, Cabo Verde). She is the National Educator for the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and has been responsible for the training of several European National Educators.
João Goulão Crespo is Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology - Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Portugal, where he is Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation. Former Vice-President of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia and former President of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at NOVA. Member of the editorial board of Journal of Membrane Science, Journal of Biotechnology, and Desalination and Water treatment. Member of “Academia de Engenharia”, Portugal, external member of the EPSRC, United Kingdom, President of the Scientific Committee of the “Institut Européen des Membranes, Montpellier, member of the Steering Committee of the “Pôle de Chimie Balard”, France, and external expert of the “Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur”, France.
Pedro Figueira studies extrasolar planets. He did his PhD in Observatoire de Genève and he is specialized in infra-red radial velocities as a way of disentangling stellar activity effects from the radial-velocity signal created by a planet.
