Dr. Piet van der Linde
1986 - PhD in plant molecular biology (Univ. Leiden, The Netherlands)
Has been research scientist, Research Manager, Director of Research, General Manager and IP Manager in several companies focussed on applied plant science for plant propagation and breeding.
Since 2009, he is Director and Owner of the Consulting company Lleaps Consult BV, providing consultancy for companies and institutes in plant propagation and breeding in various countries with special reference to long-term strategy, trouble shooting, risk analysis, IP-issues, and applied research.
He has investigated on plant microbial contamination, regulation of flowering time, dihaploid induction and applied biotechnology for plant breeding. Has established numerous propagation and sanitation protocols for a wide variety of crops, producing over 5000 interspecific and intergeneric hybrids leading to many new varieties currently on the market. Has developed fast and highly sensitive lab methods to screen for fungal resistance, and programs on nematode resistance/tolerance breeding for agriculture.
Since 2017, Piet van der Linde is invited researcher at ITQB NOVA (50% involvement).
