Title: Stereoselective Synthesis of Biologically Interesting Molecules

Speaker: Rita Ventura

From: ITQB NOVA

Abstract: Multistep processes for the synthesis of isomerically pure compounds of biological interest are used by the pharmaceutical industry and academia for the formation of new molecules with improved therapeutic, pharmacological and physical properties, which cannot be obtained in useful quantities using other resources. Asymmetric synthesis will be briefly introduced, highlighting its importance for solving problems in a wide range of scientific areas.

Some projects ongoing in our lab will be presented, using different methodologies for the stereoselective synthesis of molecules with important biological applications.

SCANs are weekly seminars that happen every Wednesday at noon by in-house researchers and invited speakers at ITQB NOVA.
