Abstract:
Brief discussion of a few examples of chemical analysis used to achieve various purposes and referring to timeless concerns about these types of samples.
– Quality control of “cork taint” by analysis of cork extracts and current regulations in markets. Search for other possible target compounds.
– Chemical characterization of Moscatel wines, chromatographic profiles and:
• flavour compounds and olfactometry using a sniffing port in the GC-MS system.
• colour coordinates, consumers’ appreciations and preferences based on colour.
– Use of FTIR-ATR in the analysis of α-tocopherol in vegetable oils. Possible use in quality control and comparison with analysis by HPLC.
– Characterization and identification attempts of compounds detected in olive seeds using HPLC-MS-MS.
