Prof Dr A. Stephen K. Hashmi

Prof. Stephen Hashmi was born in Munich, Germany in 1991. He obtained his PhD in the organic chemistry of highly strained rings in the Ludwig-Maximillan University in Munich in 1991. He spent a two years post doctoral period in Stanford University, USA, with Prof. B. M. Trost. In his later career as organic chemisthe obtained the Habilitation (Agregação) in Organic Chemistry, with Prof. Dr. J. Mulzer, having spent time in universities of Berlin, Frankfurt , Vienna,Tasmania, Marburg, Stuttgart, until he settled in the University of Heidelberg in 2007, as Porfessor of Organic Chemistry.

He has received several distinctions and prizes from german private and public entities and Foundations

His research interests are:

Transition metal catalysed reactions, with the most recent focus on Gold catalysis,
Bioorganometallic chemistry (interactions of complexes with DNA, metal based prodrugs and conjugates of natural products with organometallic molecules.
Organometallic chemistry namely enantiomerically pure metallocycloalkanes and coordination polymers.

He has 235 publications
