Title: Science Communication at ITQB: ten years and counting

Abstract:

The Science Communication Office at ITQB celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2015, making this SCAN an excellent occasion to revisit our objectives and activities. The Science Communication Office has been working in three intersecting spheres: institutional communication, science outreach, and, more recently, training in communication. ITQB researchers play a very important role in all three spheres and as such are invited to get involved. Just as current science communication models advocate a real dialogue between scientists and the public, we want to encourage the dialogue between ITQB researchers and the Science Communication Office: in the definition of objectives, in the identification of target audiences, and in the planning and execution of activities. While totally aware of the time constraints that researchers are subjected to, we believe that there are many reasons for researchers to get involved in science communication and that there are different options to do so. The next ten years start now.
