Title: Phage display as a useful tool for drug discovery.
Speaker: Ana Barbas
Affiliation: Bayer Healthcare satellite laboratory @IBET
Abstract:
Phage Display is one of the most well established techniques to generate lead molecules in drug discovery. This is a scalable method of generating antibodies, and phage-antibody libraries can provide a rich source of antibody diversity, potentially providing hundreds of unique antibodies per target. Besides enabling the identification of antibodies in a fast, high-throughput mode, which allows comprehensive protein expression analyses, phage display has been used to identify human therapeutic antibodies presently undergoing the regulatory process for market approval. Antibody libraries displaying millions of different antibodies on phage are frequently used in the pharmaceutical industry for isolation of highly specific therapeutic antibody leads, for development into primarily anti-cancer or anti-inflammatory antibody drugs.
In the Bayer Healthcare satellite laboratory at IBET we are fully dedicated to the screening and generation of therapeutic antibodies from phage display antibody libraries against targets provided by Bayer.
