Title: ITQB Science Funding Office: plan and activities

Abstract:
The ITQB Science Funding Office is now settled and ready to start working as a proximity team to support ITQB groups in all steps of a funding application, from when an opportunity arises to the establishment of a funding contract for an approved grant. This presentation will focus the planned activities for this recently renewed office, and how it will interact with the ITQB community. All welcome!
Speaker's short biography
Margarida Trindade has over seven years of experience in supporting researchers, faculty and institutions on the assembling of funding proposals, including strategic planning, finding opportunities, support throughout the application, contract negotiation and grant writing. She worked at the ISCTE-IUL in Lisbon, for the areas of Economics, Finance, and Management research. From 2008-2013, she was the Pre-award Funding Coordinator at the Instituto de Medicina Molecular working closely with biomedical researchers. She is also a trainer on grant application and career development; an evaluator (H2020, FP7, FCT) and former advisor for the H2020 Marie S. Curie Actions. M. Trindade obtained her PhD on Developmental Biology at the University College London in 2000.
Madalena Martins has been working for the last year as research manager at the ITQB, and has been responsible for the research management at the Unit Green-it "Bioresources for Sustainability". Her work involves the identification of funding opportunities, internal dissemination of calls, assistance in the preparation and submission of grant proposals, promotion and organization of meetings with national entities. Special focus has been placed in international calls. M. Martins has obtained her PhD on Biology (Biotechnology) at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa and has a vast experience as researcher in life sciences, with a particular focus on the last 10 years in the genetics/genomics of complex diseases.
