Title: Tales from the crypt: recognition properties of polyamine cage compounds.
Speaker: Pedro Mateus
From: Post- Doc Fellow at Coordination and Supramolecular Chemistry Laboratory
Abstract:
Polyamine macrobicyclic compounds (a.k.a. cryptands) are among the most versatile and successful functional receptors in aqueous medium, due to their preorganized tridimensional cavities and to the characteristics of the amine functionality. The relative ease of modification of the macrobicyclic framework also contributes to the success of this type of compounds.
Aiming to contribute to the field of molecular recognition of anions and amino acids, we have developed new polyamine macrobicyclic architectures by exploring different combinations building blocks and used them as receptors.
In this presentation, the binding properties of the receptors will be discussed as well as the implications of small structural changes in the selectivity pattern.
