In 2022, almost 258 million people in 58 countries/territories faced acute food insecurity with life-threatening consequences (Global Report on Food Crisis 2023). Achieving the goal of ending hunger, food insecurity and all forms of malnutrition by 2030 (targets of SDG) is ever more challenging as the population facing high levels of acute food insecurity has increased for the 4th consecutive year.
Vitor Serrano will speak on the evolving concepts, global panorama, and trends of Food and Nutrition Security, as well as on the challenges and experiences of an agronomist with the protection/support of food and nutrition security and livelihoods of vulnerable communities, in both development and crisis scenarios. Vitor Serrano is an agronomist with a long professional activity in international cooperation, mainly related to food security (e.g. FAO, UNICEF, EU). Vitor was the former coordinator of FRESAN project Fortalecimento da Resiliência e da Segurança Alimentar e Nutricional em Angola.
