Short CV:

Susana Araújo is an integrated member of GREEN-IT research unit, presently with a PhD Holder Researcher position, working at Pedro Fevereiro´s laboratory of the ITQB-NOVA.  Since 2017, she is also Visiting Professor at the University of Pavia (UNIPV-IT), Italy. Other relevant past positions include: Post-Doctoral Researcher at ITQB NOVA and UNIPV-IT (2016-2018); Senior Researcher (2015) at UNIPV-IT; Ciência2008 Auxiliary Researcher (2009-2014) at Tropical Research Institute (IICT-MNE, PT). Susana Araújo has a degree in Applied Plant Biology (2000, FCUL) and was awarded her PhD in Biology in 2007 by ITQB-UNL.

Her main topic of research is to understand the molecular and physiological mechanisms underlying plant development and adaptation to environmental constraints, with focus on Legumes. Her research has been funded by national and EU research grants (as coordinator or member of the team) and includes running collaborations with national private companies. She applies plant physiology, omics and plant biotechnology approaches to generate new knowledge or develop tools to ultimately support plant improvement. She is currently co-supervising seven ITQB-NOVA PhD students on these topics and coordinates the UC Interdisciplinary Seminars II of the ITQB-NOVA MSc course in Biotechnology for Sustainability. Since 2015, she is also an Associate Editor of the journal Frontiers in Plant Science.
