Phenotyping Platform
Recognizing the need to contribute to food security and sustainability in a context of climate change, the GREEN-IT team is focused on understanding plant development and behaviour under stress conditions, and in identifying strategies to improve plant productivity, quality and resilience. We started implementing a phenotyping platform to (1) better characterise plant behaviour, (2) identify the most efficient and sustainable crop management practices, and (3) select the varieties best adapted to local environments. Our basic research is incorporated in breeding programmes through a close contact with breeding stations, associations and farmers.
The GREEN-IT phenotyping platform is versatile, adaptable to a wide range of crops and growing conditions, and guarantees accurate, fast and non-invasive measurements, using diverse types of equipment:
- Aerial field high-throughput phenotyping platform
- Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones)
- RGB, thermal and multispectral cameras
