IMpaCT first Early Career short-term Exchange

IMpaCT is happy to announce the project’s first Early Career Exchange.

Andreia Fernandes, a PhD student from ITQB NOVA, has joined our partner Sarah Butcher and her team at University of Helsinki in the beginning of September.

In the next 3 months, Andreia will be in close collaborate with Sarah's team and will take advantage of their expertise in Single Particle analysis from Cryo-EM to further advance her PhD research project, dedicated to structural characterization of a particular macromolecular complex.

IMpaCT Early Career Exchanges have as main goal the interchange of expertise and methodologies between the ITQB NOVA researchers and the IMpaCT Widening Partners. Furthermore, the IMpaCT Consortium believes that these exchanges will encourage as well the professional growth of our young researchers, by supporting the creation of robust networks with competitive and international Institutes and research teams. During these Exchanges, IMpaCt project will promote knowledge building dedicated not only to the Cryo-EM techniques, but as well to essential transferable skills needed to endorse a successful career development.

Andreia has complied with all health safety directives from the Finnish Authorities and the Helsinki University, and after a 2-week recommended quarantine, Andreia is ready to start her internship with Sarah’s team.

Andreia’s visit is supported by IMpaCT project funds and by Instruct-ERIC.
