Paula Alves was nominated Associate Editor of the Frontiers in Toxicology Journal for the In Vitro Toxicology section. 

As an Associate Editor, Paula is responsible for overseeing the peer-review process, which include inviting the most appropriate reviewers and take the final decision on manuscripts. Associate Editors also contribute to the strategic direction of the section by annually co-editing or nominating a Research Topic around an influential scientific theme. 

Associate Editors are selected according to strict criteria of excellence. They are recognized leaders in their field, with a strong publication record in international, peer reviewed journals and with a recognized affiliation. The nomination of Paula Alves as Associate Editor is thus a recognition of her work as a scientist, particularly on the field of novel in vitro models for toxicology studies (Animal Cell Technology Unit – Cell Bioprocess Laboratory). 

The In Vitro Toxicology section of Frontiers in Toxicology Journal publishes original research work as well as review papers on any topic pertinent to the field of in vitro toxicology, including: fundamental research on the development and optimization of in vitro systems, practical applications of in vitro methods and prediction of chemical adversity using in vitro strategies.
