Jorge Comas
Jorge Comas is a PhD student at Plant Functional Genomics since 2016
Jorge Comas holds a BSc in Biotechnology from the University of Lleida and an MSc in Bioinformatics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, is currently a Ph.D. student at ITQB-NOVA.
Previously, during his BSc and MSc projects at the University of Lleida, Jorge worked in the field of bioinformatics and systems biology. In the field of bioinformatics, Jorge was involved in the creation of CheNER, a tool for the identification of chemical entities and their classes in biomedical literature, and P-Biblio-MetReS, a parallel data mining tool for the reconstruction of molecular networks. In the field of systems biology, Jorge created and analyzed ODE models of carotenogenic pathways in synthetic Zea mays integrating metabolomics and gene expression data.
Currently, during his Ph.D. project at ITQB-NOVA, Jorge is working with genome-scale models of Arabidopsis thaliana and integrating them with gene expression data and metabolomics data to predict and analyze central carbon metabolism features of cell growth in optimal conditions, salt stress and osmotic stress, in a time series framework.
