100th Defense of the Master's in Science Communication

Oeiras, 20th December 2024

There are now 100 Master's in Science Communication, a programme that results from the partnership between ITQB NOVA and NOVA FCSH.

With its 100th defense, by Manuel Castro Grilo, the Master's in Science Communication cements its role as a national reference in the education of specialists in this field. The 100th thesis was supervised by Professor Carlos Fiolhais and the jury was chaired by ITQB NOVA Dean João Paulo Crespo.

Since its creation, the master’s programme has empowered students to tackle the challenges of science communication, preparing them to operate in three key areas: research institutions, educational institutions, and the media.

In the master's curriculum, students explore the relationship between science and society, learn about the evolution of science communication, develop skills in strategic communication and journalism, and contact with successful communication projects.

To complete the master's, students can choose from three options: undertake an internship to gain hands-on experience in a research institute, media outlet, museum, or another institution focused on science communication; design a practical science communication project; or conduct in-depth research to address a specific, relevant question in the field.
