10th ITQB NOVA PhD students’ Meeting

The 10th edition of the ITQB NOVA PhD students’ meeting takes place from the 22nd-24th of January 2020. Along these three days, several scientific areas will be addressed and students’ presentations will be distributed by sessions according to their PhD project area. Sessions will discuss the code of life, host-pathogen biology, molecular machines, chemistry in action, plant sciences, microbial strategies, molecular medicine and biotech. Between oral presentations and posters, more than 80 students will be presenting their work in this meeting.
Four talks by invited speakers will complement the meeting’s programme. Ana Teresa Freitas, from HeartGenetics, will be presenting “Enhancing health and well-being personalization, through genetics” on January 22. On the next day, the meeting will host the AVX Seminar “Tackling metabesity. Is angiogenesis a missed link?”, by Raquel Soares, from i3s-Universidade do Porto. On the last day, there are two invited speakers: Ana Noronha, from Ciencia Viva, with the talk “From lab to society: a first person experience” and João Ramalho-Santos, from CNC, presenting “Infertility and Assisted Reproduction: From Biotechnology to Bioethics”.
This year, day 2 will end with a new format "Questions for tea", a debate in which students will have the opportunity to talk about research with biochemist Tiago Brandão Rodrigues. The last day will end with the meeting's dinner, sponsored by Câmara Municipal de Oeiras. During dinner, the best oral and poster presentations will be awarded. The symbolic value charged for the dinner will be donated to Associação Família Solidária de Oeiras (AFSO).
