Catarina Veríssimo Esteves recipient of the Metrohm Young Chemist Award 2018

Catarina Veríssimo Esteves, researcher at the Coordination and Supramolecular Chemistry Laboratory at ITQB NOVA, was awarded first prize of MTBrandão Metrohm Young Chemist Award 2018 competition. She was distinguished due to her body of research in Chemistry, submitted as the work "Binding of phosphates by Zn(II) and Cu(II) dinuclear complexes elucidated by means of potentiometric and spectrophotometric titrations". The award was given at Instituto Superior Técnico on the 30th October 2018, and now Catarina Esteves and the other awardees, António Flor (2nd prize) and Tiago Palmeira (3rd prize), will also be evaluated in the international competition with the winners from other countries, and are eligible for winning Metrohm Internacional Award.
Metrohm is a company that promotes the Young Chemist Award. In Portugal its representative MT Brandão is responsible for the national selection of the three best young chemists, in collaboration with Professor José Martinho, from Instituto Superior Técnico.
