Dia Aberto Virtual do ITQB NOVA 2021
A Ciência move-nos para o futuro! Foi este o tema do Dia Aberto virtual do ITQB NOVA em 2021, que decorreu dia 30 de maio das 10h às 17h (Hora de Lisboa - GMT+1). Neste ano em versão online, o Dia combinou visitas virtuais a espaços nunca antes abertos ao público - nem nos Dias presenciais! - com as últimas notícias do trabalho desenvolvido pelos nossos investigadores para combater a pandemia COVID-19 e encontrar soluções que melhorem a vida das pessoas e do planeta.
A programação ao vivo iniciou-se com atividades dedicadas aos mini-cientistas, que puderam o participar num episódio especial da websérie Cientistas em Casa, transmitido em direto, e em que investigadores realizaram experiências utilizando materiais do dia a dia. Logo de seguida míudos e graúdos puderam descobrir a força do Oxigénio, numa sessão de Ciência Espetacular guiada pelo investigador Carlos Romão, nos seus já tradicionais jogos de ciência.
Quem assistiu em direto pode ver como são feitos os tão falados testes COVID-19 de saliva, saber mais sobre a edição precisa de genoma e o RNA – base para a tecnologia inovadora de muitas das vacinas COVID-19, e descobrir como a investigação em plantas pode tornar o planeta mais sustentável. A Revolução Digital na Ciência foi ainda o tema de uma mesa redonda, que contou com a participação da Eurodeputada Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, entre outros convidados. No final do dia foi ainda possível conversar com investigadores no “speed dating com cientistas”, e esclarecer dúvidas sobre os mestrados do ITQB NOVA, em sessões individuais com atuais e antigos alunos.
Áreas dedicadas com conteúdos on-demand permitem também descobrir exposições em ambiente 3D, conhecer melhor os nossos laboratórios e investigadores do ITQB NOVA, descobrir os equipamentos científicos e saber o que fazem os Clubes de Ciência que apoiamos e muito mais! Tudo isso num Dia único, em que se descobriu o futuro que a ciência está a construir.

ITQB NOVA 2021 Virtual Open Day - Science will Move us Forward!
Science will move us forward! This was the motto for the ITQB NOVA 2021 Virtual Open Day, which took place on May 30 from 10 AM to 5 PM (Lisbon time - GMT+1). This year in an online format, the Day combined virtual visits to spaces never opened before to the public, with the latest news about the work developed by our researchers to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and find solutions that improve the lives of people and the planet.
The live programming began with activities dedicated to mini-scientists, who were able to participate in a special episode of the 'Cientistas em Casa' web series, broadcast live, in which researchers conducted experiments using everyday materials. Soon afterward kids and adults had the opportunity to discover the power of Oxygen, in a session of Spectacular Science guided by researcher Carlos Romão, in his already traditional science games.
Those who watched live could see how the much-talked-about COVID-19 saliva tests are made, learn more about precise genome editing and RNA - the basis for the innovative technology of many of the COVID-19 vaccines, and find out how plant research can make the planet more sustainable. The Digital Revolution in Science was also the theme of a round table discussion, with the participation of MEP Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, among other guests. At the end of the day, it was also possible to chat with researchers in "speed dating with scientists", and clarify doubts about the ITQB NOVA master's degrees in individual sessions with current and former students.
Dedicated areas with on-demand content will allow the discovery exhibitions in a 3D environment, to learn more about our laboratories, discover scientific equipment, get to know the activities of the School Science Clubs supported by ITQB NOVA, and much more. To close the day, several science quizzes will be available, with prizes for the public of all ages. All in a unique Day where you will discover the future that science is building.
