ITQB NOVA participates in European outreach initiatives

This year, ITQB NOVA researchers participated in the Science is Wonderful! exhibition, in Brussels. Tonight, ITQB NOVA project B-LigZymes will be at European Researchers' Night at MUHNAC, in Lisbon

This week, ITQB NOVA researchers take part in two European outreach initiatives: the Science is Wonderful! exhibition, on 25-26 September in Brussels, and the European Researchers Night, celebrated tonight at the Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, in Lisbon.

For two days, two of ITQB NOVA MSCA-IF grantees took part in the Science is Wonderful! exhibition, organised with the first edition of the EU Research and Innovation Days.

Through hands-on experiments and one-to-one chats, Alexandra Peregrina Lavín and Simon Benedikt Schäper, both researchers at ITQB NOVA, alerted the people visiting the fair about the plastic littering and the urgency of finding sustainable alternatives. In their project BterBioPlastics, they are turning bacteria into factories of biodegradable plastic. Their stand called "Fantastic bioplastics"  was visited by public of all ages and even by Tibor Navracsics, previous Commissioner of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport.
