Paula Alves, Principal Investigator at ITQB NOVA, CEO of iBET and Professor at FCT NOVA, has been elected as a member of the Portuguese Academy of Engineering.

Founded in 1995, the Academy is a non-profit institution of public utility dedicated to enhancing the value of engineering in society. The 32 new members received their insignias and diplomas at the Welcome Ceremony at Pavilhão do Conhecimento – Centro de Ciência Viva, in December 2024.

This acknowledgment of Professor Alves’ contributions to the fields of biomanufacturing and advanced therapeutics builds on her election as the first Portuguese woman to the US National Academy of Engineering, in 2021.
