Startup Research returns in January

The second edition of StartUp Research, the Post-Graduation developed in partnership between Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier (ITQB NOVA) and Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) to help researchers envision the value their science can generate, will take place from 10 January to 9 April 2020. The first phase of applications, until 30 September, includes a 10% discount on tuition, and the final deadline is 13 December 2019. The course offers 19 scholarships, which may either partially or fully cover tuition.

Aimed at researchers from all areas of life sciences, the Startup Research NOVA programme helps training students, giving them the necessary entrepreneurship skills and the knowledge about the latest market trends to implement business ideas in their respective fields.

This program intends to bring scientists, entrepreneurs, and industry together, and provide all science managers and executives an advanced scientific degree aimed at managing innovation and businesses. ITQB NOVA will be responsible for the technical content (e.g., innovation in biotech, intellectual property protection, project management etc.) and Nova SBE will outline the innovation and entrepreneurship side to it.

“Every scientist should apply for this course”, says alumna Roberta Zoppi. “The great environment helps you to enhance your communication skills and gives you the tools to translate science into business language. I believe the future is interdisciplinary.”

Startup Research is a short-term Post-Graduate course, which lasts three months, from January to April. Classes are taught on Fridays (14h – 19h) and Saturdays (9h - 13h) ITQB NOVA and at NOVA SBE. Scholarships are funded by Oeiras Municipality, Pharmis, Megaingenium, and ITQB NOVA.
