DNA polymerase III beta subunit

The bacterial DNA polymerase III beta subunit (beta-clamp), and the corresponding eukaryotic and archaeal proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) are ring-shaped proteins that encircle double-stranded DNA. They act as processivity factors, or sliding clamps, for a wide variety of proteins that act on DNA including DNA polymerases, DNA ligase, endonucleases and glycosylases. We have determined the crystal structure of beta-clamp from D. radiodurans, and below you will find the link to the PDB ID of the structure and the abstract of the paper where the structure is described.
